Carmella M. Dalton, 92, of Camillus, passed away Sunday, Oct. 30, 2022, at Van Duyn Center for Rehabilitation & Nursing. Born in Pittston, PA, she moved to the Camillus area in 1950. Carmella was a 1948 graduate of Hughestown High School and attended Lackawanna College in Scranton, PA. She was employed by Warner National Advertising for 18 years and then worked for Hancock Estabrook, LLP, as a bookkeeper for over 17 years. A communicant of St. Joseph’s Church, Carmella was also a Eucharistic minister and lector.
She was a member of the Charismatic Catholic Renewal and was involved in Life in the Spirit Seminars and prayer groups.
Carmella was also a member of the Italian American Club. She enjoyed cooking, listening to jazz music and traveling, especially to Italy and Japan. Above all, Carmella’s faith and family were her foundation and she especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Carmella was predeceased by her husband, Donald; parents, Mary and Matthew Granteed; daughter, Donna Dalton; and brothers, Joseph and Samuel Granteed.
Surviving are her daughter, Jacqueline (James) Dalton- Switzer of Liverpool; grandchildren, Lauren Hanson, Erica Hummel, Brandon and Ryan Switzer; great-grandchildren, Thomas and Elyse Hanson and Aiden, Melina and Rowan Switzer; and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends called Sunday, Nov. 6, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
A funeral mass will be celebrated Monday, Nov. 7 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Church, 5600 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
Carmella will be laid to rest in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Skaneateles.
