BALDWINSVILLE – Twice this week, the Baldwinsville boys swim team got to compete in front of its home fans at the Baker High School pool and won on both occasions to improve to 7-3 overall.
To start with, the Bees put away the Auburn Maroons 47-30 Tuesday night as Mikey White, in the sprints, tore to a time of 22.57 seconds in the 50-yard freestyle and then swam the 100 freestyle in 51.91 seconds.
Matt Lange, who posted 54.02 seconds in the 100 freestyle, beat everyone in the 100 backstroke by going 1:03.44 as Alex Lakomski finished in 1:11.84. Harrison Meyers was victorious in the 200 individual medley in 2:14.15.
Treygan St. John, in 1:11.07, edged Eljiah Bettinger (1:12.60) in the 100 butterfly as Lucas Clay posted 2:08.02 in the 200 freestyle, Alex Nicita went 5:54.98 in the 500 freestyle and Brennan Gruppe swam the 100 breaststroke in 1:17.98.
White, Meyers, Lange and Ben Webster paired up to get a time of 1:32.85 in the 200 freestyle relay after Webster, Meyers, Gruppe and Lakomski posted 1:54.84 in the 200 medley relay. In the 400 freestyle relay, the Bees had Gruppe, Lakomski, Meyers and Graeme Bradford get a time of 3:57.50.
Two nights later, it was B’ville against Oswego, and once again the Bees were triumphant, putting together a 51-40 victory over the Buccaneers.
Quick in the sprints, B’ville saw White improve to 22.22 seconds in the 50 freestyle ahead of Webster’s second-place 24.58 as Lange took his turn in front in the 100 freestyle, winning in 50.32 seconds as Jonathan Stevens (58.88) was second.
Lange also was quickest in the 100 backstroke in 1:00.28 to Trevor Kantak’s 1:03.72. Clay took the 500 freestyle in 5;44.88 as Jayden Miranda (5:56.53) gained second place.
To win the 200 IM, Meyers posted 2:16.99 before Gruppe was victorious in the 100 butterfly in 1:04.83. In the closing 400 freestyle relay, it was White, Nicita, Meyers and Miranda getting to a time of 3:32.59.
Webster, Meyers, Nicita and Bettinger went 1:42.85 in the 200 freestyle relay. To start out the meet, White, Lange, Webster and Nicita had gone through the 200 medley relay in 1:54.01.
B’ville’s meet with Weedsport next Tuesady is one of its last activities before proceeding to the Section III championships at Nottingham that take place Feb. 16 and 18.
