CENTRAL NEW YORK – Twice in a span of four days, the Baldwinsville wrestling team had matches against Auburn, and both easily went in the Bees’ favor.
Having prevailed 60-15 in last Saturday’s Fallen Heroes Tournament at Canastota, B’ville met up with the Maroons again Tuedsay night on Auburn’s mats and proved more stingy in the course of a 51-8 victory.
Collin Zeman earned a pin at 118 pounds, finishing off Charles Cesario in 90 seconds. Brandon Levin (145 pounds) had a 97-second pin over Elijah Stroman as Judson Ferris, at 172 pounds, took 70 seconds to pin Hunter Williamson.
Parrish Morrison won a 5-2 decision over Gage DeBlois at 189 pounds as Aidan Cali (126 pounds), Keagan Hayes (132 pounds), Max Naples (152 pounds), Aaron Fredenburg (160 pounds) and Korben Haney (285 pounds) took forfeits.
Before this, in the Fallen Heroes Tournament at Canastota, B’vlile faced a quartet of opponents and split those four matches It began with a close contest where the host Raiders edged the Bees 33-28.
Against the Raiders, Haney. named the meet’s outstanding wrestler for B’ville, pinned Jacob Napoli in 78 seconds.
Hayes (beat Luken Gaiser 12-4, Levin topped Darick Soucia 7-4 and Naples won 6-2 over Logan Mead. Cali and Cameron McMonagle (110 pounds) claimed forfeits.
Then B’ville lost a tight 39-33 decision to Indian River, where Haney pinned Davin Dewaine in the second period and Zeman won, 4-2, over Jack Countryman after Cali took a 3-2 loss to Tomah Gummow.
Hayes’ third-period pin over Caleb Welser was followed by Naples pinning Dylan Bartlett in 92 seconds, with forfeits going to Morrison at the outset and Ferris at the end.
Then B’ville romped past Sherburne-Earlville 72-6 with pins from Haney, Hayes, Levin and Fred Pickard (215 pounds), who took just 36 seconds to get his fall over Cody Clarkson.
And in the first meeting with Auburn, Levin and Ferris each earned 51-second pins over, respectively, Stroman and Williamson, with Cali pinning Cesario and the rest of the points from forfeits.
A big match next Wednesday sees B’ville visit Cicero-North Syracuse, the same place where it will return Feb. 5 for the Section III Class AA championships.
