SYRACUSE – Bryan Reichert nearly brought home a diving title for the West Genesee boys swim team during last Saturday’s Salt City Athletic Conference Invitational held at Nottingham High School.
Throughout the competition, Reichert found himself consistently better than everyone in the field except Oswego’s Jack Tonkin.
Finishing with 370.95 points, Reichert beat out Fulton’s Will Patterson (346.35) for the runner-up spot as Tonkin, with 421.80 points, won the event and another Wildcats diver, Ethan Martin, was eighth with 301.30 points.
A day earlier, WG’s swimmers put together some top-10 finishes during its portion of the SCAC Invitational as Ryan Goshow, Jack Kilroy, Tom Parisi and Angus Tarolli were sixth in the 200 medley relay in two minutes, 4.62 seconds.
Over in the 200 freestyle relay, the Wildcats had Tarolli, Parisi, Bryan Reichert and Ethan Martin grab ninth place in 1:48.41, while in the 400 freestyle relay Kilroy, Goshow, Aidan Sperduti and Matt Keiling were ninth in 4:26.61.
Kilroy took 13th in the 200 individual medley in 2:34.59, two spots ahead of Keiling, who was also 14th in the 500 freestyle. Tarolli was 11th in the 100 butterfly in a season-best 1:06.49 and 18th in the 50 freestyle, with Kilroy taking 14th place in the 100 breaststroke.
The Wildcats would return to Nottingham to face Cicero-North Syracuse Tuesday before a Thursday home meet against Oswego.
