UTICA – To start its 2022 slate, each of the Cicero-North Syracuse indoor track and field teams traveled east to face Mohawk Valley Indoor Track Association competition in that group’s fourth meet of the winter.
At Utica College’s Hutton Dome Friday night, both Northstars sides emerged victorious, the girls picking up 99 points ahead of runner-up Rome Free Academy (75 points) and the boys, with 78 points, well clear of second-place Utica Proctor’s 54 points.
One highlight in the girls meet for C-NS was seeing Hannah Boyle and Kate Putman compete together in the 1,500-meter run. Boyle tore to a time of four minute, 32.19 seconds, with Putman second in 4:32.54 and Sophia Graham fourth in 5:09.17.
As part of the Northstars’ dominance in relay events, Boyle and Putman joined Marissa Doty and Grace Murray to claim the 4×200 in 1:49.68, this after Doty beat the field in the 300-meter dash in 43.74 seconds.
Gabby Putman not only won the 1,000-meter run in 3:02.62, she helped Katy Harbold, Cameron Sisk and Ava Fisher earn the victory in the 4×800 relay in 9:58.26. C-NS also took the 4×400 as Molly McGrath, Elizabeth Smith, Camryn Jacob and Julianna Remiesiewicz posted 4:38.02.

Kaleigh Boismenu cleared 7 feet 6 inches for fourth place in the pole vault. Danielle Crivelli was fourth in the long jump with 14’10 3/4″, ahead of Murray (14’8 1/2″) in fifth place. Ava Schiff had an eighth-place weight throw of 25’2″.
On the boys side for C-NS, a 4×400 sweep was completed when Liam Adams, Amari Stephens, Jacob Klassen and Gavin McAllister went 3:49.28, well clear of New Hartford’s second-place 3:53.12.
McAllister didn’t stop there, either, as he was the only competitor in the pole vault to clear 9’6″, winning that event as he also was second in the 600 in 1:30.66, with Adams seventh in 1:38.27.
Trevon Walker, prevailing in the long jump, did so with a leap of 19’9 3/4″, just beating out the 19’8 1/4″ from Dolgeville’s Jed Guenthner, with Walker also sixth in the triple jump by going 35’9 1/4″. Carlton Garnes was sixth in the 55-meter dash in 6.99 seconds.
