CAMILLUS — More people are using telehealth calls to connect with their healthcare providers remotely.
But not everyone has a computer or other device for getting online, or reliable internet service.
This is how the New York StateWide Senior Action Council and Maxwell Memorial Library can help. Maxwell has partnered with the telehealth initiative from nysenior.org.
Patrons can borrow a special laptop and headphones from Maxwell (for use inside the library only), connect to the library’s Wi-Fi network, and conduct their telehealth visit in privacy in one of its study rooms.
If you have your own device but need internet access, you may connect to Maxwell’s Wi-Fi network 24/7 with the password readmore from the parking lot or reserve a study room.
Use of Maxwell’s Wi-Fi, laptops, and study rooms is free, but you must call 315-672- 3661 to ask about availability and to reserve a laptop and/or a room.
Please limit the use of the library’s spaces to less than three hours.
It’s a good idea to bring your doctor’s office phone number with you to your telehealth access site visit, in case you have trouble connecting to their platform and need to call them for guidance.
When inside the library, proper wearing of a face mask is required at all times unless you need to remove it to communicate better with your health care provider during the telehealth session.
Finally, if you are feeling sick or if you think you may have been exposed to COVID-19, please keep your community members safe by staying home or by using Maxwell’s Wi-Fi access from the parking lot inside your vehicle and with your own device.
