CAMILLUS — The Friends of Maxwell Memorial Library in Camillus are hosting several events throughout the month of October to celebrate National Friends of Libraries Week (Oct. 17-23). Please join us in our 28th year supporting the library through fundraisers and community outreach. We look forward to meeting you.
Art Exhibit: The Friends are hosting this month’s art exhibit in the Community Room, featuring local artist Katie Deakin. Her colorful acrylics feature beautiful creatures in her exhibit titled Wonderful Wildlife, now on display through Oct. 28.
50-50 Drawing: Tickets are $2.50 each or 5 for $5.00. Winner gets half the proceeds, while the rest benefits the Friends. Please purchase tickets at the Main Desk, drawing is on Oct. 30.
Junior Friends Candy Corn Contest: The Junior Friends are holding a free contest for all ages. Guess the number of candy corns in the jar on the Friends shelf in the library. The person with the closest guest will win a $25 Target card on Oct. 30. Enter in person or email the Friends your guess ([email protected]; picture of candy corn jar can be found on the Friends’ Facebook page).
Fall Bulb Sale: Purchase high quality Dutch bulbs on Saturday, Oct. 16 at 11am. Quantities are limited, no preorders. Email the Friends for the location ([email protected]).
Mischief at Maxwell: The Friends are pleased to help sponsor this family friendly event. Register on the library’s website to pick up a pumpkin to carve (one per family) and bring it back to the library by Oct. 27. On Oct. 28, join us for games, candy, and admire the community’s pumpkin decorations from 6 to 7 p.m. in the library parking lot. Kids are encouraged to wear their costumes.
The Friends of Maxwell Memorial Library group is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization which supports the library. New members are always welcome; come meet other book-loving friends. Our group meets every first Tuesday of the month at 1pm on Zoom and/or in the library Community Room.
