ONONDAGA COUNTY – What amounted to a local round-robin of boys volleyball continued last Tuesday night when Jamesville-DeWitt took on East Syracuse Minoa, and the Red Rams prevailed in four sets.
A close opening set was claimed by J-D 25-23, allowing it to absorb the Spartans’ 25-20 win in the second set. The pivotal third set went beyond the point limit, but the Rams won it 27-25.
Then J-D closed it out 25-22 in the fourth set, seeing Ty Parker pick up 13 kills and Avery Tyson add 10 kills as Nick Dekaney got three blocks. Matt Keeler finished with 18 assists and Aidan Bates added 14 assists.
On ESM’s side, Ben Clappin and Cole Thomas each had 10 kills, Thomas adding 15 digs. Aiden Betts got eight kills and Jayce Dormes seven kills as Jacob Franklin had 31 assists. Jacob Sehn earned 13 digs and Don Hamilton added 12 digs.
Playing again on Friday night, J-D pulled off a sweep of Baldwinsville, taking the first and third sets by equal 25-21 margins and earning a 25-16 win in the second.
Keeler had 14 assists and Bates chimed in with seven assists. This led to Parker getting 10 kills and Tyson contributing eight kills, with Carter King contributing three kills.
As this was going on, Fayetteville-Manlius was at Liverpool, the Hornets finding each of its efforts to upend the Warriors ending in three identical 25-18 defeats.
Earning 22 assist, Jaden Duggal passed it to Andrew Li, who had a team-best seven kills and two aces. Kieran Egan got five kills, with Max Danaher adding four kills and three aces. Chris Cleary had three kills, with Aden Pollock and Braden Moore both earning four digs.
For Liverpool, Elliott DeForge managed 12 kills, five aces and six digs, with Anthony Pezzino getting 11 kills, six aces and seven digs. Nolan Feidt dished out 24 assists, adding three blocks and a pair of aces.
