Nothing like a chance at quick payback.
Just six days after losing to Jordan-Elbridge at home, the Cazenovia softball team will meet them again in Thursday’s Section III Class B-1 quarterfinals.
In playoff brackets released on Sunday, the Lakers (11-5) drew the no. 4 seed in B-1, with J-E the no. 5 seed. Cazenovia will seek to avenge a 5-1 defeat to those same Eagles on May 22 in the regular-season finale.
If the Lakers win, it faces South Jefferson or Solvay in Saturday’s semifinal round. They’ll play the B-1 final June 3 at the Gillette Road complex in Cicero, also site of the overall Class B final June 6.
With its fast finish, Cazenovia’s baseball team, at 8-12, did make it to the Class B playoffs.
As a no. 13 seed, the Lakers go to Boonville to face no. 4 seed Adirondack Tuesday at 4:30, with the winner getting Bishop Ludden or Utica-Notre Dame in Thursday’s quarterfinals. The finals are June 3 at Alliance Bank Stadium at 7 p.m.
