ONONDAGA COUNTY – Except for a single blemish at the expense of Fayetteville-Manlius on April 5, the Baldwinsville girls volleyball team mostly had its way against anyone else who challenged them.
This included West Genesee, whom the Bees swept in last Monday night’s match, though B’ville had to go through a tight 25-23 opening set to get out in front of the Wildcats.
A 25-12 second set and 25-20 third set followed, B’ville getting 17 kills, four blocks, three aces and four digs from Kyrah Wilbur as Brooke Clute picked up 13 kills and six digs.
Gianna May, with four kills and three blocks, helped Wilbur and Clute as Jenna Garvey picked up 20 assists, five digs and two aces. Catherine Iven had six digs and Kathryn AuClair added three digs.
This success continued in last Wednesday’s match against Henninger, B’ville again needing just three sets as it routed the Black Knights 25-13, 25-15, 25-7.

Then, facing Liverpool on Saturday afternoon, B’ville zoomed to 10-1 on the season, going through some challenges in the early stages but then completing a 25-21, 25-19, 25-14 sweep of the Warriors.
Wilbur gained 15 kills and Clute finished with 10 kills. AuClair picked up a pair of aces as Garvey, with 25 assists, got back-line help from Maddie McKaig, who had seven assists. Iven and Clute earned five digs apiece.
In boys volleyball, B’ville had to go up against Liverpool and Cicero-North Syracuse in consecutive matches, and lost both of them in straight sets.
The Bees fell 25-15, 25-11, 25-18 to the Warriors as Carter Healey still managed 14 assists, with Xzavier Vanderstuow contributing four digs.
Adam Lobdell had a team-best four kills, with Austin McClintic, James Brussel and John Morrissey getting three kills apiece. Liverpool featured Elliott DeForge getting 11 kills, five aces and eight digs as Quinn Moore got 21 assists.
