Maureen Lefkowitz (formerly Maureen Snell), passed away peacefully on Jan. 30, 2021, in the presence of her devoted husband and loving daughter.
Maureen was born on March 22, 1954, in Woburn, MA, and spent much of her childhood in Baldwinsville, where she graduated from C.W. Baker High School 1973. Maureen’s adventurous spirit and desire to travel following high school brought her to California and Oregon before settling for a while in Denver, CO, in 1978.
Maureen met Larry Lefkowitz in early 1979. They married in 1981 and together they raised their beautiful daughters Jessica and Lorin. In 1982 Larry and Maureen relocated their family to Royal Palm Beach, FL, where they’ve lived for 22 years. Maureen and Larry spent 42 wonderful years together.
Maureen was a loving and generous mother. She gave her all to her children and they benefited greatly from her love and attention. When they were young, her energy, sense of humor and playfulness ensured that they had a lot of fun. When her children became adults, Maureen was endlessly supportive of their goals and happy to share in their lives.
A lifetime learner, Maureen earned a Registered Nursing (RN) degree from Palm Beach State College. In her last few years, she was enrolled in Palm Beach State College’s Paralegal degree program in order to someday combine her years of practical medical experience with her love for the law and justice. Prior to earning her RN degree she successfully teamed with her husband to own and operate an insurance agency. As an RN she held numerous positions across the health care spectrum to include psychiatric nurse, hospice nurse, RN/office manager for a pain management physician and RN case manager. Maureen worked tirelessly, with compassion, and earned the love and respect of her patients, co-workers and management.
Maureen was extremely creative and expressed it since her childhood. She designed and created her own clothes and clothes for others including a wedding dress for her sister and for her own marriage. She loved weaving and owned two looms. After Maureen met Larry, she went to college and majored in dance. Her grace and skill in ballet and modern dance was a sight to behold.
Maureen was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Joan Snell, and her brother Paul Thomas. She lives on in the hearts of her two children, Jessica Enzo and her husband Allen, and Lorin Herr; her sisters Barbara Favuzzi, Mary Bartley, Janet Buckley and Marsha Hammond; brother Dan; grandchild, Liam; and many others whose lives she touched.
