Meet-record performances from the West Genesee boys indoor track and field team highlighted the work of local sides during last Saturday’s Jack Reed High School Showcase in Rochester.
It was the Wildcats’ 4×200 relay team of Dylan Frost, Will Fettig, Logan Scott and Rhison Williams who went one minute 31.93 seconds to set that meet mark and edge out Sweet Home (1:32.24) for the victory.
Overall WG finished fifth in a field of more than 50 teams with 35 points as Michael Gomes again was victorious at 1,000 meters, his 2:33.50 setting yet another meet record as he was more than two seconds clear of the field.

And a third title was earned in the 4×400 relay, where Scott and Williams returned, joining Zach Hann and Nick Lamanna to go 3:33.89 well clear of Pittsford Mendon’s second-place 3:36.50.
Frost finished sixth in the 55-meter dash in 6.68 seconds, while Landon Derbyshire threw the shot put 48 feet ¾ inch to land in seventh place and was ninth (51’7 3/4”) in the weight throw.
On the girls side for WG, Claire Griffin took eighth in the 600-meter run in 1:42.96 and helped the Wildcats to fifth in the 4×800 relay in 10:36.19 as it added a sixth in the 4×400 in 4:17.64.
Skaneateles saw Mara Stanton finish second in the weight throw, her toss of 44 feet 11 ¾ inches topped only by the 47’1” of Grand Island’s Brooke Christensen. Lucy Fleckenstein was seventh in the 1,500-meter run in 5:00.30. Tritan Boucher was 10th in the boys 1,000 in 2:44.65.
Marcellus was here, too, with the girls Mustangs eighth in the 4×200 in 1:49.75 helped by Corrine Aldrich, Madison Foy, Sophia Pilon and Dorothy McMahon. Owen Alexander reached the boys 55-meter hurdles finals going 8.12 seconds. Solvay had Serenity Williams take seventh in the triple jump going 34’1 1/2”.
In the John Arcaro Memorial at SRC Arena John McCrone gave Skaneateles a second-place finish in the pole vault during the afternoon session, clearing 11 feet to beat everyone except Central Square’s Gaige Williams, who topped 12 feet.
Earlier in the morning session of the Arcaro meet Bishop Ludden had Blake Sheen finish third in the boys 600-meter run in 1:35.57 and Porter Sheen third in the 1,600-meter run in 4:55.57 and Alexi Sheen third in the girls 55 hurdles in 9.53 seconds. Jordan-Elbridge took third in the boys 4×800 in 9:52.18.
