Cicero — Republican Mike Becallo has announced his candidacy to run for the New York State 127th Assembly District currently held by Al Stirpe. The 127th Assembly District includes the towns of Cicero, Clay, Manlius, Tully, Fabius and Pompey.
Becallo said he is running on a platform of lowering taxes, decreasing government spending, reducing government regulations and red tape, fostering a business-friendly environment and imposing stricter requirements of government ethics on elected officials.
Becallo is currently a Cicero Town Councilor, having served the residents of Cicero since January 2014. He is the liaison to the Cicero offices of town clerk and tax Receiver. As an elected official, Becallo said he has been a strong advocate for taxpayers and small businesses in Cicero.
Becallo currently works fulltime in the healthcare information technology field. He is also an owner of two businesses, one being medical practice management consulting and the second aiding first responders in obtaining critical health data at the point of care.
Becallo obtained his bachelor of arts degree in communication sciences from The University of Alabama, his master of science degree from Canisius College and a Certificate of Health Information Technology from Weill Medical College at Cornell University.
In addition, Becallo is a volunteer firefighter with the Cicero Volunteer Fire Department and a board member for the North Syracuse Education Foundation. He was recently selected as a recipient for the “40 Under 40” award by the Central New York Business Journal.
