The February issue of USAA Magazine named Syracuse as one of the top 10 best places for military retirement in the United States.
The publication for career military members cited Syracuse’s proximity to Fort Drum and the VA Hospital and eight four-year colleges as the main attractions for retiring to ‘Cuse.
“Residents of Syracuse enjoy a low cost of living, with a stable economy and affordable housing. Syracuse University offers a wealth of educational and cultural opportunities,” the article says.
Syracuse was named number 10 on the list. Topping the list as the best American city for retired military professionals: Waco, Texas. Syracuse was one of only four cities on the list in the northern part of the country.
