The Syracuse Symphony Orchestra announced today that the “Coffee Concerts” scheduled for Friday Jan. 7 and 21 have been canceled.
The concerts were planned for 11 a.m. at the Crouse Hinds Theater at the Civic Center and would have featured abridged versions of the “Schumann, Beethoven and Strauss” concerts planned for Friday and Saturday Jan. 7 and 8, and 21 and 22.
“It was a noble experiment,” said Paul Brooks, interim executive director. “Many of our patrons had asked that we provide daytime concerts for the community’s classical music enthusiasts. The weekday late morning hour seemed to be ideal. Regrettably, the response was not enough to offset the production costs of presenting these concerts.”

This week’s issue of The Eagle listed the Jan. 7 Coffee Concert in its Get Out: The Guide. We apologize for any confusion, as the concert had not yet been canceled at press time.
