Starting out as the no. 4 seed, the Baldwinsville girls tennis team made it to the semifinals of the Section III Class AA tournament, but would get stopped there.
It all began in last Tuesday’s opening round against no. 5 seed Whitesboro, where the Bees put together a 7-0 shutout to the Warriors.
As Kahlei Reisinger swept Laura Sowalskie 6-0, 6-0, and Catherine Corsito topped Katie Dashiewich 6-2, 6-1, Amari Pollard prevailed in three sets. Over in doubles, Maddie Fiello and Natalie Kot beat Juile Francis and Lacey Hurwitz 6-0, 6-4 as Melinda
Davis and Rachel Taylor slid past Viktoriya Montik and Kelly Read 6-1, 6-3.
Sarah Corcoran and Taylor Ferrari routed Nikki Lazore and Katilyn Robinson 6-0, 6-1, with Colleen Morgan and Maddie Price producing a 6-0, 6-2 win over Elizabeth Davis and Nil Patel.
Weather kept the Bees from playing its Class A semifinal with no. 1 seed Fayetteville-Manlius until Saturday – but once they did play, the Hornets extended its win streak to 288 consecutive matches, eliminating B’ville 7-0.
Pollard lost to Carly Romano 6-2, 6-2, with Reisinger falling to Sienna Susko 6-0, 6-3 and Ferrari accepting a 6-2, 6-0 defeat to Allison Vizgaitis.
Moving to doubles, Corcoran and Colleen Morgan had the closest contest, but still had a 6-3, 6-3 loss to Meghan Muraco and Caitlin Welker. Corsito and Davis lost to Rhiannon Iorio and Katie Muller 6-2, 6-1. Price paired with Taylor Slink, falling to Olivia Calancie and Kara Goldberg 6-0, 6-0, with Maddie Fiello and Natalie Kot part of a 6-1, 6-0 loss to Laura Gardiner and Nicolette Hamilton.
