Busy in the early days of October, the Chittenango boys golf team played four times in as many days – and won twice.
First, the Bears hosted Mexico last Monday at Rogues Roost and dominated that match, taking out the Tigers by a score of 196-242.
Ryan Kendrick posted a nine-hole score of 36, leading a three-man charge as Caleb Mannix added a 37 and John Laskowski posted a 38. No Mexico player shot better than Tanner Squires’ total of 43.
A day later, also at Rogues Roost, the Bears stayed right with East Syracuse-Minoa’s Blue team, but still lost 195-199 to the Spartans.
Scores proved quite good in the soggy, cold conditions. In particular, Laskowski stood out, going under par as he shot 32, five shots better than ESM Blue’s Ben Loder.
Erik Russell and Sean Murray both chimed in with equal rounds of 38. Mike McIntosh contributed a total of 39 and Conor Delaney posting a 42. Kendrick added a 43.
Chittenango beat Cortland 209-219 on Wednesday at Cortland Country Club. McIntosh, with a 37, had the best individual total, just ahead of Mannix, who posted a 38 as Kody Becker led the Purple Tigers with a 39.
Going to Lafayette Hills on Thursday afternoon, the Bears lost 205-238 to Jamesville-DeWitt. McIntosh shot a 38, tying J-D’s Erik Davis for low individual honors.
This followed the Bears’ 207-232 win over Fulton on Sept. 29, a match where Russell posted a 38 at Rogues Roost, one shot ahead of Mannix. McIntosh added a 40.
