Still unbeaten within the CNY Counties League, the Cicero-North Syracuse boys volleyball team kept passing whatever examination got thrown at them.
The Northstars went to Central Square last Tuesday night and earned its eighth straight league win, beating the Red Hawks in four games.
A close first game saw CNS prevail 25-22, and it used that momentum (plus its power at the net) to dominate the second game 25-14. Central Square avoided a sweep by winning the third game 25-22, and pushed the Northstars in the fourth game, too, before the visitors closed out the match 25-20.
Jim Coleman backed up his 29 assists with six kills. Ethan Irish again stood out, earning 16 kills as Tyler A. Smith got eight kills and four assists. Billy Werksman produced six kills and four aces.
Liverpool returned to action Thursday night and struggled in a 25-9, 25-14, 25-18 loss to Baldwinsville, the team closest to CNS in the league standings.
Aaron Carroll-Marsh finished with five digs and four aces, while Ian Hamm got five digs. Ben Peet added four digs as James Henty picked up two assists, two assists and two digs. Ryan Shelton led B’ville with 28 assists and five aces.
