In its second meet of the 2010 season, the Liverpool girls swim team found the win column as it hosted Auburn Wednesday night and recorded a 102-79 victory over the Maroons.
Leading from the start, the Warriors saw Becky Evangelista, Madison Sestak, Renee Stromski and Colleen McCarthy swim the 200 medley relay in a time of 2:02.72.
On her own, Evangelista won the 100 butterfly in 1:05.31, just after she lost a narrow 50 freestyle match to auburn’s Mary Jane Leja, 25.48 seconds to Leja’s 25.43.
McCarthy was victorious in the 100 backstroke in 1:09.06, edging out teammate Ashley Zemotel (1:09.86), with Sestak outlasting Kelly Cole in the 100 breaststroke, 1:13.54 to Cole’s 1:13.69.
Noelle Killius won the diving competition with 171.70 points, as Brigid Cotter (145.05 points) claimed the second spot. Evangelista and Sestak joined Antoinette Esce and Madison Hall as they won yet another close race in the 200 freestyle relay in 1:47.76. Auburn (1:47.98) was right behind.
On that same night, Cicero-North Syracuse returned to action at Oswego, having a fair share of wins but still losing to the Buccaneers 95-86.
Emily Altier won twice for the Northstars, taking the 200 freestyle in 2:08.17 and also getting first place in the 500 freestyle in 5:45.07.
Nicole Blidy won the 100 butterfly (1:05.07) as Stacey Radder picked up 211 points on the diving board. Altier helped CNS’s 400 freestyle relay team prevail in 4:15.3.
Liverpool and CNS face each other this Friday at the LeMoyne College pool, where the Northstars have home meets.
