Chittenango soccer teams sweep Fulton

Chittenango’s boys soccer team hosted Fulton Tuesday night and took advantage of the chances it received to beat the Red Raiders 2-0 and stay unbeaten (4-0) within the OHSL Freedom division.

Though only earning a handful of shots, Chittenango still got on the board as Corey Rivet and Chase Martin picked up goals, with Connor Toth and Josh Bunce earning the assists. A stout defense made that lead stick up as Kyle Coon stopped all seven shots he faced.

Meanwhile, the Chittenango girls team traveled to Fulton and saw Jenna Barber take over in the first half as it beat the Red Raiders by the same 2-0 margin as the guys did.

Twice in the early going, Barber flashed open and pounded shots past Fulton goalie Stephanie Hotaling as Sierra Shafer and Sara Pierce took credit for the assists.

This still left the Red Raiders a whole lot of time to come back, but Chittenango’s back line would not budge and Brigid St. Leger came through again, finishing with 11 saves to earn her shutout.

Both of Chittenango’s teams will go to Alibrandi Stadium on Saturday to face Christian Brothers Academy.
