Dance with the cloggers

The Erie Canal Cloggers, of Jordan, are pictured coming off their recent performance at the New York State Fair. The cloggers will host their annual annual open house from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday Sept. 21 at the Christ Episcopal Church Parish Hall, 25 N. Main St., Jordan. Instructor Aliccia Clark said when you’re clogging with Erie Canal Cloggers, it’s more than just a form of dance and exercise.

“We also meet many new friends and it’s kind of like a big family when we dance,” she said.

The event will feature demonstrations, free refreshments and registration for classes, which begin the following week. The first three weeks of instruction are given free of charge in order to give newcomers a chance to decide if clogging is for them. Cloggers who stick with it will have chances to perform throughout the year, including stage time at the New York State Fair. Performing is optional.
