Ending a long skid, the Skaneateles softball team came from behind in last Monday’s game against Hannibal at Austin Park, beating the Warriors 4-3 in eight innings.
The Lakers got the jump with two runs in the first inning, only to get blanked in the next five frames. That gave Hannibal time to regroup, then tie it with two runs in the fifth before a sixth-inning tally pushed the Warriors ahead 3-2.
Refusing to quit, Skaneateles got to Hannibal pitcher Jamie Keding for the tying run in the bottom of the seventh, then got the winning run in the eighth.
Chelsea Hamilton and Erica Tardiff each had two hits and one RBI, while Carrie Hinchman, Emylie Garcia and Alyssa Stevens also got hits. Hannibal managed nine hits off Stevens, but she still pitched a complete game with seven strikeouts, not allowing a walk.
On Thursday, the Lakers made it back-to-back wins by rolling past Nottingham 8-1. A three-run rally in the bottom of the third proved the peak for a Skaneateles attack that managed runs in each of the first four innings.
Hamilton and Emily Call each drove in two runs, with Tardiff earning two doubles and and an RBI as Garcia and Julianna Augustine earned RBIs, too. Stevens pitched the whole way, giving up just four hits.
Skaneateles (3-8) will go for three wins in a row Monday, at Westhill, before returning home to face Cazenovia and Jordan-Elbridge as the 2010 season winds down.
