F-M girls golfers set team, personal marks

In the span of 48 hours, the Fayetteville-Manlius girls golf team was part of two record-breaking efforts as it kept its record spotless.

This culminated Thursday afternoon at Butternut Creek, where the Hornets put up an astonishing team total of 132 to beat Rome Free Academy, who shot 171.

That 132 broke a team record for the course, and it didn’t stop there. Alex Seabury, free from having to deal with windy conditions that have marked much of F-M’s season, blistered the course for a 28, a new personal best for nine holes.

Lela Feldmeier set her own personal mark with a 34, a number Sara Simons matched. Meghan Kingsley came up with a 36 as Maria Mintskovsky shot a 38 and Carly Kidd posted a 44. RFA’s Nikki Darois led her side with a 39.

This came two days after F-M beat Liverpool 176-218 at Liverpool Country Club. That 176 set a team record for a single match at LCC.

Going to the forefront, Mintskovsky shot a 41, tying Seabury for low indiviudal round. Feldmeier finished with a 45 as Kidd and Simons each posted 49 and Adrianna Kam got a 57.

The Hornets took a home match at the Cavalry Club against Cicero-North Syracuse last Monday and rolled past the Northstars 186-223, the 186 nearly setting yet another team mark for matches on that course. Seabury shot a 43, with Kingsley adding a 45.

Also maintaining its undefeated mark, Christian Brothers Academy shot 188 to easily beat Westhill (210) and Cazenovia (247) at Camillus Country Club. Mary Fletcher shot a 43 in chilly conditions as Emilee Oakes added a 47.

Then the Brothers took out Skaneateles 179-228, with Elisabeth Webber going to Skaneateles Coutnry Club and posting a 40, two shots ahead of Fletcher. Sarah Kitts had a 44 and Shea Turner posted a 48.

CBA made it 14-0 on Thursday, roaring past Cazenovia 186-234 at Drumlins West. Fletcher shot a 41, beating Kitts by four shots, with Chelsea Parkes stepping up to shot 48.
