One incumbent, three challengers on J-E school board ballot

The Jordan-Elbridge Central School District’s proposed 2010-11 budget of $26,357,767 is 3.23 percent lower than the previous year’s budget, and would increase the tax levy by 2.88 percent.

Voters will also cast their ballots on the following three proposals:

– The purchase of three 70-passenger buses, one 54-passenger bus for students with special needs, and two 28-passenger buses at a cost not to exceed $516,000.

– Elbridge Free Library is requesting a funding increase from $45,000 to $47,000.

– Jordan Bramley Library is requesting a funding increase from $50,000 to $60,000.

Four candidates are running to fill three vacant spots on the J-E Board of Education. Voters may choose up to three of the following candidates:

Board and budget elections will be held from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday May 18 at Jordan-Elbridge High School, 5721 Hamilton Road.
