Given the current economy and budget crises at the state and county levels, which areas of the budget do you feel the town could cut back to alleviate the pressure on taxpayers?
The past two years we have taken a hard look at all areas of the budget and have implemented cuts throughout the budget. This is demonstrated in the 2009 budget with no change in the tax rate and with the 2010 budget, just completed, with a decrease in the tax rate.
In what ways do you think the town could consolidate services with villages, neighboring towns or the county to increase efficiency and keep costs down?
We are looking at all options and have led the way with our consolidation of Dog Warden with the Town of Van Buren and our current efforts underway with the Town of Elbridge for the consolidations of the Assessor’s Office.
What do you consider your greatest accomplishment thus far in your position?
I am able to feel proud that I am doing my best to provide a high level of fiscal responsibility to our taxpayers and a feeling of accomplishment in solving the problems and issues of my constituents.
What specific projects or goals are you most interested in completing or pursuing in your next term?
Maintain our ability to control costs and to provide the most cost-effective services to our residents. Also there are some infrastructure issues that need addressing. These include drainage issues and attempting to supply public water to some outer areas of my ward.
