Given the current economy and budget crises at the state and county levels, which areas of the budget do you feel the town could cut back to alleviate the pressure on taxpayers?
I believe fiscal responsibility is an issue that should always be addressed during both strong and weak economic times. In lieu of cutting services that we have in the town of Camillus, I would like to re-examine business practices in search of ways to better streamline our operations including staffing responsibilities as well as more efficient purchasing practices i.e. working with other municipalities to better strengthen our purchasing power for needed supplies and equipment.
In what ways do you think the town could consolidate services with villages, neighboring towns or the county to increase efficiency and keep costs down?
I would like to see a closer relationship between the village and town of Camillus. I believe there are possibilities to consolidate services between the two without losing identities. I would also work closely with the five fire departments that serve the Town of Camillus as well as WAVES ambulance to see where we could reduce duplicate services and equipment without sacrificing one iota of service to our residents. I believe consolidation can be very good but has to taken on a case by case basis.
What recent projects do you feel you would have approached differently than the incumbent and why?
I believe a more proactive approach to working with our fire departments would benefit both Town and Village residents financially as well as the respective fire departments.
In what area is the town most in need of improvement and how would you work to fix that?
Regarding the fourth ward, there must be more communication between the councilor and the residents. I believe that, as their representative, I would have an obligation to keep the fourth ward residents apprised of current and future issues that affect our ward as well as the whole town. There has been a serious lack of information sharing in the fourth ward.
