B’ville cross country splits with CNS

In conditions closer to winter than to fall, the Baldwinsville cross country teams engaged in a classic last Wednesday against Cicero-North Syracuse, emerging with half a victory.

On the boys side, the Bees stayed in control, prevailing 24-31, while the B’ville girls fell to the Northstars by a 21-36 margin.

Once again, Shaun Thompson dueled in the boys race against CNS star Chris Buchanan. And while Buchanan won in 15 minutes, 35 seconds, Thompson did not disappoint the home fans with second place in 15:42.

B’ville, in fact, swept all of the top five spots after Buchanan. Nate McCabe was third, in 15:47, while Adam Pacheck got fourth place (16:02) and Chris Wicks finished fifth, in 16:07. Ethan Pacheck added a 10th-place finish in 16:31.

CNS had a 1-2 finish in the girls race with Nicole Watterud (18:28) and Marissa Colburn (19:29) before the Bees’ Kristina Sprague finished third, in 19:38.

Ashley Shaheen grabbed fourth place, in 19:55, but CNS had the next three runners in order before Kristen Biedermann took eighth place in 20:03. Nicole Fecco (20:22) finished 10th.
