Each of Chittenango’s cross country teams found success in Tuesday’s race against Fulton, winning on both the boys and girls sides.
It proved more lopsided in the girls race, where the Bears buried the Red Raiders 21-39, even though Fulton’s Kerri Knopp had the top individual time of 22 minutes, 14 seconds.
Becka Sager, in second place (22:28), led a group of four Chittenango runners on a raw afternoon more suited to November than September.
Jordan Donnelly took third place, in 23:05, while Kelly Anderson landed in fourth place (23:24) and Alissa Levens-Freeman earned fifth place in 23:33.
Cassie Regan ran her way to seventh place (24:34), with Brianna Lalor eighth (25:14) and Mary Turk finishing 10th in 26:23.
It proved to be a close boys meet, but Chittenango had a bit more depth than Fulton and beat the Red Raiders 26-31.
Josiah Durfee, in a time of 17:15, slid into second place behind the Red Raiders’ Noah Carroll (16:55), wit Dylan Coppola taking third (18:28) on Fulton’s behalf.
The Bears won by claiming four of the next five spots. Kevin Carr took fourth, in 18:59, with Bruce Gondeck in fifth place (19:05). Jason Ceresoli was seventh (19:11) and Brad Murray finished eighth (19:42) to clinch the win. Tyler Howd (20:34) was 10th.
