Earning a spot in the win column in the OHSL Freedom division, the Chittenango girls track and field team doubled up on Cortland last Wednesday afternoon, earning a 94-47 victory over the Purple Tigers.
Kristina Gorden claimed first place in the 100-meter high hurdles in 19.0 seconds and helped the Bears’ 4×100 relay team win in 53.9 seconds.
Brittney Tirabassi earned first place in the 400 hurdles (1:19.4), and Chittenango also got to first place in the 4×800 relay (11:28.3) as Kelly Anderson and Rebecca Sager served as the anchors.
Kelsey Pudney, who was with Gorden and the rest of the Bears in the 4×400 relay (4:54.0), won the pole vault by clearing 7 feet. Ellen Heenan prevailed in the triple jump (29 feet 1 inch), while Malzie Zamlowski claimed first in the long jump (13 feet 6 inches) and Alyssa Endres threw the discus 78 feet 5 inches.
A few days later, the Chittenango boys team went to the John Arcaro Relays at Baldwinsville’s Pelcher-Arcaro Stadium, where it got just four points. The Bears’ best finish was a fifth in the 110-meter high hurdles, where it had two total times of 36.0 seconds.
