Liverpool’s track and field teams got a jump in the CNY Counties League National division race by earning a sweep of Henninger Monday at Sunnycrest Field.
The girls Warriors’ 120-12 romp included a series of fine individual efforts. Wanetta Rodney, for example, won the 100-meter dash in 13.18 seconds, then took the 200-meter dash (27.6 seconds) and teamed with Chrissy Scalisi, Armani Moore and Nachez Brown to take the 4×100 relay in 52.56 seconds.
Trina Bills also won twice on her own, taking both the 400-meter dash (1:01.3) and 1,500-meter run (5:11.1), with Miranda McConnell running 800 meters in 2:41.8 and Brigid Heenan taking the 3,000-meter run in 11:39.8.
Harmony Cross backed up her 100-meter high hurdles win (18.2 seconds) by tying Scalisi in the triple jump, each of them going 31 feet 6 inches. Moore won the triple jump (15 feet 6 1/2 inches) as Ashley Twum cleared 4 feet 4 inches in the high jump and Tatiana Gladney threw the discus 76 feet 2 inches.
Nikki Carfi ran to first place in the 400 hurdles in 1:16.23. She also teamed with Scalisi, Melissa Riehl and Chenae Sinclair in the 4×400 relay (4:33.9) as Riehl, Maureen Berical, Megan Murphy and Ashley Johnston combined to claim the 4×800 relay in 12:12.1.
