The Baldwinsville boys indoor track and field teams had a third-place effort during last week’s CNY Counties League National division championships at Manley Field House.
On the boys end last Tuesday night, the Bees finished with 91 points, not far from Liverpool (101 points) at the runner-up spot as Cicero-North Syracuse earned 138 points at the top.
The Bees got one win on the oval, in the 4×200 relay. Tim Hayden, Kyle Rogers, Jeff Pond and Sean Bernstein worked to a top time of 1:35.87, with Liverpool (1:37.21) in second place.
In field events, Brian Kane won twice for 20 points. He cleared 6 feet 3 inches to take first place in the high jump, where Bernstein (5 feet 10 inches) was fourth, then got a victory in the triple jump, going 41 feet 1 1/2 inches.
Over in the 4×800 relay, Tim Chambers, Nathan McCabe, Sam Kurey and Chris Wicks took second in 8:35.09, again behind CNS. Rogers, Pond, Charles Parker and Brian Wisely worked together to finish third in the 4×400 relay in 3:41.05. Rogers earned second in the long jump, going 18 feet 7 1/4 inches.
Shaun Thompson took second in the 3,200-meter run, just beaten in a duel with CNS’s Chris Buchanan. Thompson finished in 9:52.57 as Buchanan (9:51.74) prevailed.
Chambers (2:45.05) and McCabe (2:48.24) were third and fifth, respectively, in the 1,000-meter run, and Chambers returned for a fifth-place clocking of 4:41.86 in the mile.
Bernstein earned second in the 55-meter dash in 6.74 seconds, edged out by Henninger star Greg Spears (6.67 seconds), as Pond took fourth place in the 300-meter dash in 38.37 seconds. Kyle McCaleb was fifth in the 55-meter hurdles (8.86 seconds) as Kurey got sixth place (1:31.98) at 600 meters.
In girls action on Feb. 16, the Bees got 33 points, for fourth place in the CNYCL National division. CNS won with 159 points.
B’ville’s quartet of Kristina Sprague, Ashley Shaheen, Danae Polsin and Nicole Fecco got third place in the 4×800 relay in 10:16.02. Katie Frost, Allie Vroman, Katie Hogan and Liz Sawyer were third in the 4×200 relay in 2:04.41. In the 4×400, Polsin, Kylie Mosher, Kaitlyn Colligan and M.C. Cunningham were third in 4:27.39.
Jaimee Balloni ran to fourth in the 1,000-meter run in 3:14.22. Cunningham was fourth in the 300-meter dash in 46.50 seconds. Laura Farleman earned fourth in the high jump, clearing 4 feet 8 inches. Taylor Pastore was fifth in the 55-meter hurdles and Jasmine Bean sixth in the 55-meter dash.
