The Village of Camillus Board will hold a special meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19 to appoint a trustee as Mayor to replace Tom Grant, whose resignation will become effective Wednesday Feb. 18.
Deputy Mayor Kurt Brunger is expected to be appointed Mayor for the remainder of Grant’s term, which is up in March 2011, though the board could move to appoint any village resident to the position.
If a trustee is appointed Mayor and their seat becomes vacant, the board could choose to appoint a village resident to the open position, but the appointment would be temporary and filled by the election March 18.
At a recent regular board meeting, Michael Montero asked the board to consider appointing him to replace Brunger as trustee for if his seat on the board becomes vacant before the March 18 election.
Montero, along with village residents Michael McBride, Sharon Norcross, James Palumbo and Tonya Wilson, is currently campaigning for the trustee seat to be vacated by Ed Norcross when his term ends March 31.
