Liverpool wrestlers beat Oswego

Before going to the Section III Class AA meet later this week, the Liverpoolwrestling team met up with Oswego Wednesday night and got into the win column, bashing the Buccaneers 45-24.

Oswego jumped out in front, winning three of the first four matches. Only Mende Cukalveski (140 pounds) interrupted that run, pinning Ricky Susino in 3:32.

Starting with Derek Eason at 152 pounds, the Warriors would win seven times in eight tries. Eason took just 24 seconds to pin Mike Ruggio, while Matt Hathaway (160 pounds) pinned Mike Hennessey in 1:41 and Joe Pizzuto (171 pounds) claimed a forfeit.

Mike Reed began another streak in the 215-pound match, earning his pin over Rob Lynch in 2:20, just before Casey Guilfoyle (103 pounds) beat Brian Pulver 13-6. After a Tyler Eason forfeit at 112 pounds, Justin Thompson (119 pounds) gained a pin over Sawyer Ortiz in 1:06.
