As a warm-up for Saturday’s Section III Class B meet at South Jefferson, the Cazenovia wrestling team met Camden, from the Tri-Valley League, on Tuesday night and handled the Blue Devils 34-27.
Cazenovia swept all of the highest weight classes, as Sam Taylor (171 pounds) took just 46 seconds to pin Darrin Smith and Cody Foster (189 pounds) finished off Tony Sanganetti in 1:56. Clancy Kemp, at 215 pounds, claimed a forfeit.
In a trio of decision in the lower weight classes, Jose Wells (112 pounds) handled Alex Montiath 16-6 and Jake Wilson (119 pounds) routed Chuck Lyons 11-1, this after Brad Nardella worked at 103 pounds to beat Natalio McCormick 11-5.
From 125 to 160 pounds (seven matches in all), Camden claimed six wins, with only Petroff breaking that string at 130 pounds with a 17-2 technical fall over Nick Seymore. In close decisions, Joe Szalmczynski (152 pounds) fell to Ron Sanganetti 5-4 and Phil Kugler (160 pounds) lost to Chris O’Leary 10-7.
