Playing Homer for the second time in five days, the Skaneateles boys basketball team prevailed last Friday, putting together a 50-40 win over the Trojans, with Nick Pesarchick leading the way.
It started with the Skaneateles defense in the spotlight, holding Homer to a scant 12 points in the first half. Here was where the Lakers built most of its margin before an evenly played second half.
Each time Skaneateles needed a basket, Pesarchick provided it, hitting on 11 field goals as he set a new season mark with 23 points.
Next to him, everyone else played a supporting role, as Will Polacheck got eight points, with Rice and Jordan Mercado getting six points apiece.
Having improved to 12-6, Skaneateles has tough road games at Bishop Grimes and Marcellus on Wednesday and Friday, just before finding out where it will go for the Class B playoffs on Sunday afternoon.
