Given some rest during the last week of January, the Canastota girls basketball team refreshed itself, then resumed the quest for perfection.
On a Friday night where another undefeated Class B squad, Westhill, took a loss at Bishop Ludden, the Raiders stayed on track, pushing Frankfort-Schuyler aside in a 54-26 home rout of the Maroon Knights.
Canastota’s trademark defense was on full display during the first half. Swarming and relentless, it held F-S to a scant seven points, hardly enough to give the Raiders much concern.
Thus, the Raiders went to halftime with a 33-7 lead in hand as its offense continues to show marked improvement from what was seen earlier this season.
Liz McGinley continued her strong campaign with 18 points, while Alicia Hibbard found her way to double figures with 12 points. Holly Marsh emerged as a new offensive threat, with nine points, while Shea Foster produced six points.
The Raiders will be at Westmoreland Tuesday night before returning home Friday for a date with Waterville.
