Bears edged by Fulton

With a great chance to turn its bad fortune around, the Chittenango girls basketball team could not quite pull it off.

The 3-10 Bears met up with 9-6 Fulton last Monday night and had a chance all the way to the wire before absorbing a narrow 48-47 loss to the Red Raiders.

Despite getting just two points in the first quarter, Chittenango stayed close with its own tight defense. Then both sides picked up the tempo in the second period as Fulton stretched the margin to 28-21 at halftime.

Unfazed by this, the Bears clamped down in the third quarter, holding the Red Raiders to just five points and getting close again. During a tense final period, the two sides traded the lead, but Fulton finished in front.

Kayleigh Clark led both sides with 17 points, with Maggie Kednrick sinking a pair of 3-pointers on her way to 13 points for the night. Haley Landen and Jessica Antelmi each had five points. Ashlyn Palmitesso led Fulton with 13 points.
