Oneida bashes Camden, awaits Notre Dame

Back home Friday night to face Camden, the Oneida boys basketball team had another enjoyable outing as it overwhelmed the Blue Devils in an 86-50 romp.

With that win, the Indians improved to 11-5 and clinched a winning record for 2008-09 – not bad, given that it went 9-12 a season ago and got a late start this winter because of the football run to the state championship game at the Carrier Dome.

From the time it put up 26 first-quarter points, Oneida stayed in control. In case Camden had any ideas, the Indians outscored them 27-10 in the third quarter to build its margin to 66-32 before easing up late.

Remarkably, each of Oneida’s 14 players got at least one field goal before the night was done. Ryan Kramer led with 20 points, while Joe McCormick stepped up for 13 points and Nick Dreimiller added 10 points. Justin Didio, David Cieri and Matt Tamburro each got six points.

As a team, Oneida connected on 11 3-pointers, with Kramer, McCormick, Dreimiller and Cieri getting two each.

In what promises to be a fun show this Friday, Oneida (11-5) plays at Utica-Notre Dame, with Kramer and Jugglers junior Pat Moore (who leads the Tri-Valley League in scoring) the featured attractions.
