Swimming Warriors swamp CNS

Two days after getting beat by Mexico, the Liverpool boys swim team bounced back on Thursday, taking out neighbor and rival Cicero-North Syracuse 96.5-80.5.

Improving by a full second on on what it did against Mexico, Paul Telesca, James Walker, Jake Burns and Cory Spado combined to win the 200 medley relay in 1:47.46 this time around.

Spado got first place in the 100 butterfly (58.97 seconds), with Telesca moving on to win the 500 freestyle in 5:29.90. Over in the 200 freestyle relay, Telesca, Joe Lee, Walker and Hanna won in 1:34.12.

Tim Roche had 206.5 points on the diving board after Joe Lee won the 200 freestyle in 1:57.81. Tom Schmid got first in the 200 individual medley in 2:19.87 before Alex Perfitt, in 54.17 seconds, won the 100 freestyle.

CNS got most of its victories in the late going, though John McCabe did sneak in during the 50 freestyle to take first place in 25.14 seconds.

Billy Werksman won the 100 backstroke (1:08.82) and Kyle Whalen earned first in the 100 breaststroke (1:11.23). And in the 400 freestyle relay, Werksman, McCabe, Tyler Smith and Paul LaRosa earned a top time of 4:05.50.

Liverpool would try and derail its neighbors from Baldwinsville next Thursday.
