Back from its huge win in New York City over Lincoln on Jan. 17, the Jamesville-DeWitt boys basketball team again set upon the task of beating up local opponents.
The Red Rams made a much shorter road trip to East Syracuse-Minoa last Tuesday night and nearly got to the century mark in a 93-60 victory over the Spartans.
Amid a wild first, half, J-D struggled to allow points, but scored them in bigger bunches, too, to the tune of a 58-35 margin. A third-quarter stampede made it 85-46, but head coach Bob McKenney cleared his bench in the late going to keep it from getting worse.
Both Alshwan Hymes and DaJuan Coleman finished with 19 points, with Brandon Triche close behind as he got 18 points. Zach Chinouma and Steven Thomson each had seven points, with Mychal Weekes and Demetrious Mitchell earning six points apiece.
In girls action, J-D met ESM and rolled through the Spartans 60-36.
As the first quarter wound down, J-D already owned a 17-5 lead, one it kept all night as it outscored ESM in every single period.
Theresa Hernandez finished with 14 points, while Alyssa Gratien earned 12 points and Jessica Kramer got 11 points. Chayla Love added eight points.
ESM found it more difficult, as Mallory Buckley had eight points and Becky Teschler earned six points. Carissa Ficarro, Alex Cassella and Olivia Luciani each had five points.
