Up against yet another tough OHSL Freedom Division foe, the Chittenango wrestling team had some success in Wednesday’s meet against Cortland, but mostly watched the Purple Tigers take control during a 44-15 defeat.
In fact, Cortland won the first three matches before Kyle Schiedo, at 189 pounds, could get the Bears on the board by beating Cody Hartman in a 7-2 decision.
Two more wins by the Purple Tigers followed, but Cole Farsaci gave Chittenango a bright moment at 112 pounds when he pinned Tyler Thayer in 3:31.
Of the last six matches, the Bears won just once, thanks to Nic Bacon, who took 2:47 to pin his 135-pound opponent, Devon Darrow. Karl Chappell (145 pounds) dropped a 5-1 decision to Montana Sanders.
Chittenango competes again Saturday at Fabius-Pompey’s Dual Meet
