Bees fall to Nottingham, C. Square

Looking for some kind of good news, the Baldwinsville boys basketball team did take Nottingham to overtime in last Tuesday night’s game at the Baker High School gym before falling to the Bulldogs 53-51.

The entire game was tight, with the two sides swapping the lead. B’ville clung to a one-point edge, 35-34, going to the fourth quarter, only to see Nottingham catch up at the end of regulation, 46-46.

During the four-minute OT session, Nottingham prevailed 7-5 to get the win, pushed there by Deanzel Crouch, who had 19 points, and Devorn Kinsey, who got 12 points.

Kevin Roy, with 13 points, led the Bees’ attack where Mike Guinta had 10 points, with Tyler Monnat (eight points) and Nick Robinson (six points) close behind.

One night later, in the make-up of a snowed-out Jan. 8 game at Central Square, the Bees fell to the Red Hawks 70-47.

Central Square, emerging as a possible Class AA title contender, outscored B’ville in every period, starting with a 23-point first quarter and excelled from long range, hitting on 13 3-pointers before the night was out.

Kyle Miller had six of those treys on his way to 23 points, while Tyler Ross and Troy Page each converted three 3-pointers as Ross got 17 points and Page 11 points.

No one on B’ville’s roster could match that production, as Monnat led with 10 points. Chris Whelan and Brian Wilson each got nine points, with Dan Deland earning eight points and Roy adding six points.
