B’ville swimmers battle past F-M

With Chris Cadwell at the forefront, the Baldwinsville boys swim team gave 2-0 Fayetteville-Manlius its first defeat of the season Tuesady night, beating the Hornets 94-89 at the Nottingham High School pool.

Cadwell first emerged by taking the 200 individual medley in a time of 2:11.49, earning another title later in the 500 freestyle in 5:13.28.

Meanwhile, Dan Ravas nearly achieved a double of his own. He won the 50 freestyle in 23.07 seconds and in the 100 butterfly, battled F-M’s Kevin Koh to the final stroke as he finished second (56.06 seconds), inches behind Koh (55.84 seconds).

Steve Owen secured a B’ville sprint sweep by taking the 100 freestyle in 56.06 seconds, while Danny Burke dropped in to win the 100 backstroke in 58.47 seconds.

If the meet turned anywhere, it came in the 200 freestyle relay. Jake Martin, Brandon Boyd, Nate Menapace and Paul Schweitzer posted a winning time of 1:44.37, just ahead of F-M (1:44.93), resulting in what turned out to be the clinching points.
