Fresh off a fall campaign that included a state Class B cross country championship, Marcellus senior Chris Stogsdill turned his attention to the indoor oval.
And when Stogsdill and his Mustang teammates came to Manley Field House for last Monday night’s Jack Morse Relays, they were ready.
By finishing with 20 points, Marcellus tied Jamesville-DeWitt for fourth place, and had the best total among small schools. Cicero-North Syracuse won with 52 points.
Stogsdill, teaming with Jesse Garn, Mike Quercia and Tom Riccardi, pulled out a victory in the distance medley relay, the Mustangs’ time of 10:41.67 well clear of West Genesee (11:01.34) at the wire.
Then it was on to the distance medley, where Stogsdill, Quercia and Garn were back, joining Kevin Daily as they fashioned a time of 3:44.72 that beat Baldwinsville by more than five seconds at the line.
