The Baldwinsville Swarm 9U baseball team won five games in a row on its way to claiming the championship at this weekend’s Battle at the Beach tournament in Fairport, New York.
The B’ville Swarm defeated the Fairport Red Raiders, 9-5, in its first game of the tournament on Friday, May 24. On Sunday, the Swarm won 21-6 against the Victor Blue Devils and then 7-3 against the Penfield Crimson Tide. On Monday, the Swarm came back to win 15-10 against North Tonawanda. That put the Swarm into the Memorial Day championship game against the Victor Blue Devils.
B’ville took home the first place trophy after narrowly defeating the Blue Devils in the championship game, 8-7.
“What a great weekend,” Swarm head coach Brian DeLorenzo said. “I couldn’t be more proud of the boys.”
