Mr. Lawrence (Larry) Kaye Kibby, son of the late Elton and Josephine Kibby, was born March 5, 1937, in Bradford, PA. He attended public schools in Bradford, PA and later graduated with a bachelor’s degree from St. Bonaventure University in Allegany, N.Y. At an early age, he professed his faith in Jesus Christ and joined the Salvation Army where he and his future wife Margaret were dedicated members. Larry was also a long time member of the Community Wesleyan Church in Baldwinsville, NY.
He was united in holy matrimony to Margaret Alvira Bailey, on August 23, 1958. This union was blessed with five children. In 1975, shortly before the birth of their fifth child, the family moved to upstate New York. Margaret preceded him in death on Sept. 29, 2004. Larry remained in New York until 2012, when he moved to Fort Worth, TX to be closer to many of his children and grandchildren.
Larry was a dedicated father and grandfather before anything else. He enjoyed spending much of his time with his children and grandchildren making memories that they will cherish for a lifetime. Larry also enjoyed the time he spent in fellowship with so many of his closest friends through local men’s prayer groups. As a result of his light-hearted spirit and sense of humor, he was loved by many. His Christian life and walk were a true testimony to so many, and the love he showed will forever remain in the lives of all who knew him.
Surrounded by family, Larry peacefully departed this life on Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2016, at the Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Grapevine, Texas. He was preceded in death by his sisters Patricia Frederick and Rita Kibby and brothers Elton, Edward and Allen Kibby and Richard Sirline.
His beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of his children: Jeffery (Laura) Kibby of Allen, Texas, Tami (Donald) Day of Missouri City, Texas, Scott (Lisa) Kibby of Elbridge, Todd (Jeanna) Kibby of Keller, Texas, and Mark (Kristille) Kibby of Burkburnett, Texas. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and a host of special nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A memorial service honoring the life of Larry Kibby will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 5, at the Community Wesleyan Church in Baldwinsville. Immediately following, there will be a graveside service at Riverview Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest next to the love of his life, Margaret. In lieu of flowers, the family is encouraging donations to the Salvation Army. Falardeau Funeral Home has arrangements.
