Celiac awareness month recipe: Pizza pie – that’s amore!
In recognition of the fact that May is Celiac Awareness Month, we will be posting a gluten-free recipe each week. Here’s a great, basic gluten-free pizza crust recipe. The toppings are up to you!
Gluten-free pizza dough
Ingredients
2 cups gluten-free all-purpose flour,
1 package active dry yeast
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon pure maple syrup
1½ tablespoons butter, melted
2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
1 cup warm water
Directions
Mix flour, yeast and salt; add maple syrup, melted butter, olive oil and warm water. Form dough into a ball and cover with plastic wrap. Let rise for 30 minutes. Preheat the oven to 450 degrees. Place ball of dough on tray lined with parchment paper; spread the dough out until it is in the shape of a pizza – thinner works better. Bake for 10 minutes, then add desired toppings and place back in the oven, checking often until toppings are heated through.
