The Fenner Town Board held its regular monthly meeting last Thursday, Sept. 10, at the town office, where they voted on two approval actions and discussed general town business:
—Supervisor Dave Jones said the town received a quote of $4,800 as the cost to install five surveillance cameras and a television monitor in the town offices as part of the town’s planned security upgrades. There will be two cameras inside the town office and three outside. The town is also looking at replacing some of the building’s doors. The cost of the security upgrades will be paid for in full by a grant obtained by the town.
—Jones said the town has obtained a new computer on which to do town bookkeeping. He also said that new bookkeeper Carol Roberts has officially succeeded Maravene Marion in the position, and has been transferring the necessary town records to the new computer. Marion announced her retirement as town bookkeeper at the board’s August meeting.
—The board voted unanimously to furnish a new 20-foot culvert pipe to the Fenner Conservation Club so the club can replace the current pipe that continually gets clogged. Jones said the club will complete and pay for all the necessary labor to install the pipe, not the town, and has also received permission from the state Department of Environmental Conservation to do the work.
—The board unanimously approved the Madison County Hazard Mitigation Plan, which is used by the town and the county to address natural disasters such as winter storms, floods and tornados.
